Gimme more hydrangeas
Last year I shared how excited I was for the hydrangea situation at our Martha’s Vineyard home (see here). I also shared that there were some disappointments. So this year I set out to improve my hydrangea season.
Still love it?
I wouldn’t say it was a total impulse buy, but I did want something I could get immediately… If I was buying for a client, I would caution them not to settle, just to have something. So the question is, one year later, would I make the same decision?
MV paint colors...
I’ve been on the receiving end of that question a time or two. So here they are, all the paint colors in our Martha’s Vineyard home.
Fall is in the air…
The best part of owning a home on Martha’s Vineyard is getting to experience this island at different times of the year now. Before we owned, we always came in July, so we knew about vineyard summers. But what would it be like to get to experience her Autumn splendor? I could only imagine the foliage and ooh, that prefect “sweater weather!”
Hydrangeas please…
Even my 6 year old son (now 16) knew that hydrangeas were my favorite flower. I had them at my last two houses in Charlotte and they grew okay…So when we bought a house on Martha’s Vineyard where hydrangeas are amazingly plentiful, I was super excited!
Let's screen it in...
When we purchased our home in Martha’s Vineyard, the realtor warned us that it didn’t have a proper dining room. It did, however, have the makings of a back porch, just off the living room. I instantly knew that I wanted to make this space outdoor dining, capable of seating up to 10 people. Seeing as how we are not truly outdoorsy folks, the only way to make it work was to screen it in.

Diversify your feed…
Hopefully you see that there is no one way to be a black content creator. In fact, in most instances, if you take the people out of the photos there is no way to know the race or ethnicity of the person behind the square. In home design, we are coastal, traditional, transitional, farmhouse, modern, bohemian, you name it. We like neutrals. We like colors. We like understated. We like glam. We like to save (hello @homegoods) and we like to splurge

J U S T DO IT! I’ve been thinking about painting a couple of interior doors a soft blue. I‘ve been pinning blue doors for the past 2 weeks. Truth is they were all pretty similar and any of them likely would’ve been fine.
